On Sunday, October 22, 2023, our beloved Bishop Daniel Felton celebrated our annual White Mass. Our Chaplain Fr. Tony Wroblewski was co-celebrant, as was Fr. Jacob Toma. Bishop Felton's homily was on the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians, noting that we were chosen for our vocation as health care workers. We are called to be the healing presence of Christ to others.
Following Mass Dr. Francie Broghammer (see brief profile below) spoke on "A Catholic Response to the Mental Health Crisis". In her talk, Dr. Broghammer addressed the current deaths of despair, the epidemic of loneliness, and the drivers of human happiness. She also discussed the role of technology. Finally, she noted that our goal is to build bridges between science, health care and pastoral care. Her talk was in perfect alignment with Bishop Felton's pastoral letter.
Dr. Francie Broghammer graduated from the University of Notre Dame, and she attended the University of California, Irvine for medical school and her psychiatry residency. She has repeatedly been a guest on the Doctor, Doctor podcast of the CMA and has been a speaker at the Catholic Medical Association National Conferences. Currently she is employed by the Minnesota Dept of Human Services and is the Medical Director for the Anoka Metro Residential Treatment Center.
