On September 28, 2021, the University of Minnesota Duluth became home to the first Catholic Medical Association Student Section in Duluth, MN — the fruit of a year of prayer and persistent recruiting led by pharmacy student Emma Pero, under the mentorship of guild physicians Dr. Dan Skorich and Dr. Gordy Harvieux.
The student section grew quickly. On September 9, 2022, at the national CMA educational meeting, the UMD CMA Student Section was awarded the Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year — presented to Tony Ukkelberg (President), Katie Warner (Vice President), Abbie Boehmer (President Elect), and Allison Olsson (Vice President Elect).
